Can the Christian AI identify my sins for me?
No. The AI asks questions; you answer them to yourself. The fruit of the examen is conviction and sorrow as moved by grace — not a diagnostic output. Only your conscience, informed by Scripture and tradition, can name sin rightly.
How long does an examen take?
Anywhere from five minutes (daily) to thirty minutes (weekly or before sacramental confession). The tool adapts its depth to the time you have. A shorter examen done honestly is better than a long one rushed.
Is this useful for Protestants without a sacrament of confession?
Yes. The pattern of self-examination, repentance, and prayer is universally Christian. Reformed and Evangelical users find the examen useful for personal repentance and preparation for the Lord's Supper, with scripture-heavy prompts instead of sacramental framing.
What if I have not confessed in years?
The tool has a specific path for that situation. It helps you organise a broader examen across life stages and draft a plan to approach a priest. The hardest part is usually the return; this prepares the ground so the conversation can happen.
Can I use this with scrupulosity?
Gentle mode is designed for exactly that. It slows the cadence, emphasises God's mercy, avoids repetition traps, and encourages a fixed weekly rhythm rather than compulsive re-checking. For clinical scrupulosity, always work with a confessor and, if needed, a professional.
Does the Christian AI talk back with judgement?
No. The AI is trained to ask, not preach. It names the question, cites a relevant passage or tradition, and lets your conscience answer. The work of repentance is between you and God; the tool just makes the space for it.
Is it free?
Yes. The full examen flow is free. We consider this a ministry feature rather than a paid surface, and intend to keep it that way.
