Why TheoSumma charges anything at all
Running a theological AI is not free. Every question routes through large language models we pay for, compute we host, and a small team that curates the sources and keeps the library honest. Subscriptions fund development, server costs, and continuous improvement — nothing more.
Think of the paid tiers as sustaining a public library, not subscribing to a streaming service. The free plan is designed to let anyone read Scripture and study the Church's thought in full.
"The laborer deserves his wages." — 1 Timothy 5:18. The sacraments and Scripture are free; compute bills are not.

Will the free plan always be free?
Yes. It's a commitment, not a marketing tactic. Any change would be announced on this page first, and current users grandfathered in.
What exactly is in the free plan?
Access to TheoSumma's Native model — the core chat experience — on every public feature: Bible Chat, AI Experts, Biblical Figures, Systematic Theology, Traditions, and community. The free plan has a limited daily quota; paid plans raise those caps and unlock the Expert model plus multimodal features (speech, image, PDF).
What's the difference between the Native and Expert models?
Native is the model that powers the core conversation. Expert is a stronger model tuned for longer reasoning, deeper source synthesis, and research-heavy modes. Free keeps Native; paid plans add Expert.
Where do I see the actual prices?
Inside the app at /plans. Prices are shown in your local currency and reflect the current billing cycle. You don't need a credit card to sign up or use the free plan.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from your profile. Subscriptions don't auto-renew after cancellation. iOS subscribers manage cancellation through the App Store, per Apple's policy.
Where does the money actually go?
Roughly: most of it to compute (LLMs, hosting, databases). The rest to the small team that curates sources, maintains the library, and responds to you. No investor dividends, no ad spend, no sales commissions.
